I was admitted to Hull Royal after a fall and I was assigned to Mr Spink. He came to see me twice before surgery and was vary open and honest about my injuries and the procedure I was going to have. His bed side manner was excellent, After surgery he visited me on the ward and again his manner and explanations were clear and concise making me feel reassured. I visited Mr Spink for my out patient appointment and again it was not the normal in and out visit he was keen to hear how I felt I was getting on and if I had any problems. I cannot thank him enough for his help support and advice.

I was referred to Mr Spink due to a herniated disc in my lumbar spine. Mr Spink was very kind during our initial consultation, listened to myself and my partner regarding our concerns. He explained the 3 main options available to me and allowed my partner and I the time to talk through the pros and cons without trying to influence my decision at all. I decided on surgery. On the day of the surgery I saw Mr Spink before the op and he was again very kind and reassuring. Unfortunately after recovering well for 12 days I reherniated the same disc. Mr Spink acted quickly requesting and MRI and then again allowing me to make the decision going forward. When I opted for a second surgery Mr Spink supported this and requested that I be put through quickly for a revision surgery. Thankfully this surgery has been a success and I am now returning to work. Mr Spink has been amazing throughout the whole process. He is a very kind, humble man. He doesn't complicate things with jargon and keeps it simple. I feel very reassured that even though I have now been discharged I can still contact Mr Spink if needed. I couldn't be happier that I was referred to him, what he has done has got me off horrendous pain medications, off crutches and back to being 'me'. I 100% recommend him.

Mr. Spink listened to the questions I asked regarding the choices and explained clearly the process, the risks and the possible outcomes. The PLIF procedure has been successful and the care has been exemplary. Now 10 weeks post op and signed off. Thank you Mr. Spink, you have given me a new lease of life.
