My daughter has been under Mr Gupte's care since October 2017. She was devastated when at 12 years old and performing at high level athletics she had a serious knee injury (ACL and meniscus). In some ways we were blessed - we had private health insurance. I went into overdrive researching different consultant orthopaedic surgeons who specialise in knee trauma in children. After hours of research and a couple of appointments with other surgeons we saw Mr Gupte. I decided to let my daughter have the final say in who her surgeon would be - it was vital she had confidence in him. Mr Gupte has a lovely manner, he is not patronising to children, takes time to explain and makes sure they understand. Our daughter was set on Mr Gupte and we agreed ( he is one of only a number of surgeons in the UK who can perform the surgery she required with minimal invasion into growth plates, thus reducing potential complications. He is also an amazing surgeon All that said, the journey was not easy. Mr Gupte is conservative in the time he expects his patients to refrain from sports - so don't expect a quick fix. Our daughter was frustrated when her coaches etc. were all saying she was being kept off sport too long. She complied 100% with Mr Gupte's instructions - it did take a year to get back anywhere near back to normal training. The results though - amazing - she has full function of her knee and is back to competing. I could not recommend Mr Gupte highly enough.
