I saw Dr Desai with a significant Dupuytren's contracture to my right ring finger. He listened carefully to my questions and concerns. He explained what surgery I would need along with the risks. He acknowledged the severity of my condition and professionally told me that he wouldn't carry out the surgery and kindly referred me to his colleagues at the Hand Centre at Royal Derby Hospital, who have since successfully carried out a fasciectomy on my hand. My hand is precious to me and I am so grateful to Dr Desai for being honest with me and for referring me to the specialists at Derby Hospital who are also able to do plastic surgery, although luckily I didn't require a skin graft in the end.
