I am a 63 year old woman and I have had a bad back, mostly from sport, since I was 13 years old. For the last 11 years or so I have been a patient of Dr Kandikattu. I have received bi lateral denervation procedures at Stamford hospital along with facet joint injections and these have been done by Dr Kandikattu about every 14 months or so for the last 11 years. Tbh I trust this man with my life, from a life of pain and numerous different advice from hospitals he has transformed my life, these procedures allow me to be mobile, pain free and lead a reasonably active life. He is totally trustworthy, explains everything in the utmost detail. He has empathy with his patients and is so willing to listen as well as give advice. He is caring and obviously very popular with his staff. Even if this procedure wasn't 100% successful I would still place all my trust in him because he is the ultimate professional in his field. I feel very fortunate to be his patient and I would absolutely recommend him to anyone.

Dr Subhash Kandikattu is a fabulous doctor. Not only is he top his game in terms of his specialisation, he delivers his care in a manner that is caring, considerate and conscientious, whilst ensuring that he and the patient are fully engaged throughout the care pathway. As a patient who is far from keen on hospitals or having any form of medical intervention, Dr Kandikattu was quick to recognise my concerns and equally quick to take steps to minimise any anxiety. His care has had a significant impact on my condition and I would not hesitate in recommending his services.

Brilliant chap so polite and reassuring! I was very nervous having a steroid injection but made me so at ease which made me realise I was worried about nothing.

Since I was referred to this doctor the care and speed of my referral has been great compared to Health Connect. I was finally seen yesterday for treatment so I'm hoping all will work. Thank you.

What a true gentleman, so much care during the procedure ,explaining everything that was happening and asking if I was comfortable to proceed at every stage, understanding just how I was feeling and the knowledge of knowing exactly where my pain was coming from. The support staff were also so kind and welcoming I felt so assured and safe with them all. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart and if anyone else goes to see Dr Subhash Kandikattu be assured you are in safe hands. Keep doing what you are doing I don't know of anything you could improve on.

Profile

Dr Kandikattu is one of the few pain medicine consultants in East Anglia to have gained certification in the Fellowship in Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP). He uses the biopsychosocial model of pain to offer modern assessment and management of his patients’ pain at the Peterborough City & Stamford Hospital, Fitzwilliam and Boston West and Clementine Churchill Hospitals.

“Whilst doing my pain training at the Royal Marsden Hospital, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, St Mary’s Hospital and Hillingdon Hospital, I was inspired by the pioneers in pain management there and I became keen to learn new techniques.”

“I am pleased to now be able to tutor students studying for their MSc in Regional Anaesthetics at the University of East Anglia and I hope that I can instil some of desire to embrace new and modern pain management techniques in these trainees.”

Dr Kandikattu offers comprehensive pain management to people suffering from chronic pain from their head to their toes including: cancer, musculoskeletal and spinal (neck, chest, lower back, sciatica), neuropathic, complex regional pain syndrome, fibromyalgia, chronic headaches and persistent post-surgical pain.

He performs a full range of pain interventions including epidurals, facet and sacroiliac joint injections, radiofrequency denervations, most of which are image-guided using x-ray or ultrasound guidance. He is also an expert in treating acute pain and inpatient pain management.

He offers outpatient appointments and inpatient care for pain management intervention at the Fitzwilliam and Boston West Hospitals. Patients struggling with chronic post-operative pain may need further pain management to relieve their discomfort and Dr Kandikattu can offer a back-up service for them too.

“I use this holistic model of approach for all my patients, taking all the biological, psychological and, social factors into account as each can impact on a patient’s pain. It’s important to treat patients as a whole.” said Dr Kandikattu.
