On arrival to the ward I was a complete nervous wreck. Doctor Akotia was the first doctor I saw: was very informative and relaxed which in turn put me at ease. Arriving to theatre I broke down in tears, but within moments I was laughing and joking with his distraction techniques and lighthearted comments I’d forgotten my fears. Dr Akotia put me at instant ease and made it clear I was in safe hands. He was clear with what he was doing which I needed and had me laughing before I went off to sleep. Being woke up by him when i came around was also reassuring and made me smile again for some reason. I recognised the voice telling me time to wake up. Great bedside manner, came to see me after the op to ensure I was up and moving and once again had the entire room giggling. The anaesthetic was my biggest fear but turned out to be the most enjoyable (if that’s possible) part of the procedure. Thank You!

Dr Akotia was very helpful in telling me everything involved in the procedure and what to expect afterwards as well as how to manage pain relief after. His direct and straightforward approach enabled me to have a clear understanding. I appreciated him coming to check on my twice after the procedure as well. His sense of humour also made me less nervous and the conversation before the anaesthesia was administered helped me to remain calm as it was the first procedure I have had.

Dr Niven Akotia was my anaesthetist for my operation at Springfield Hospital. He was absolutely fantastic. I was incredibly nervous with it being my first ever operation and he put me at ease as soon as I met him. He was funny, chatty and overall a lovely doctor. When being put to sleep he kept me distracted the whole time by making me laugh. I didn’t even realise he put the cannula in or the anaesthetic in until I started to drift off. After my operation he came to check on me several times. Made sure I was getting my painkillers and drinking enough water. I honestly can’t thank him enough for making me so at ease for an operation I was so worried for. I 10000% recommend Dr Akotia, he is just absolutely brilliant at his job.

Dr Niven Akotia was my anaesthetist for a recent procedure, his care was fantastic from start to finish. I usually suffer from sickness with anaesthetic, he arranged for his secretary to call me a week before the procedure to explain what I needed to do before the op with regards to fluids and drinking a sports drink. On the day Dr Akotia made me feel extremely comfortable, he was very attentive, professional and explained everything along the way putting me at ease. I had no sickness whatsoever ever during my recovery which was fantastic.
