I was seen today at queens hospital after a long 4 year battle with the diagnosis of pain in my left thumb. The previous consultant I had had left just before Covid lockdown. I am now with a new consultant who referred me to the above consultant for a ultrasound examination, something which I have never had before, may I add. I have had xrays, mri blood tests, steroid injections and still no relief or proper diagnosis until today. This consultant was polite, informative, didn’t treat me as an idiot like the past consultant who shall not be named.I have had more results in two weeks from my new consultant and this radiologist who I had today and who hopefully will finally get the ball rolling with a proper diagnosis this time so that I can get relief after years of pain, no sleep and a better quality of life. He explained everything he was doing without be patronising and showed me what he was looking for in a clear and precise manner, making sure that I knew what was going on throughout the whole of the examination. In these crucial uncertain terms within a hospital environment, made me feel safe as well.
