more like a good friend than a doctor, so warm and friendly, put a very nervous patient at ease and kept me that way throughout the operation , I wasn't scared because of her and i thank her for that. And talked to me clearly as I'm hard of hearing Please don't change you are great as you are!

Response from Dr Liz Kingston

Thank you so much for your kind words. I enjoyed our time together in theatre and it was a pleasure for me too! I think one of the big things anaesthetists have to do for their patients is to carefully explain options, and provide reassurance so that patients can approach their operations with confidence and calmness- I'm really glad to hear you didn't feel scared as a result of our discussion. Communication skills are key for any doctor, but I think even more so in anaesthetics. I have a close family member with hearing impairment, so I think it's very important to ensure hearing impaired patients don't miss out on key information or get isolated due to communication problems. I hope you are recovering well from your operation, and wish you all the best for the future.
