I had a partial knee replacement on the 24th November 2015. I was the first operation of the day and Dr Hywel Jones came to see me in the ward to explain exactly what was going to happen, prior to my operation. When I arrived at the prep room I was met by Dr Jones and to say I was scared is an understatement, but after a few minutes I was so relaxed and calm, I even stayed awake throughout the whole operation. Dr Jones explained to me what the surgeon was doing to my knee, on the other side of a big sheet that was in front of me, Dr Jones was showing me pictures on an I-pad of my operation as it was happening, which I found really interesting and fantastic. I did not feel anything throughout my operation, due to Dr Hywel Jones being an absolute master of his profession, thank you Dr Jones for giving me such great care and attention.

Dr Jones is a fantastic anesthetist and listener and if you're lucky enough to have him you will be as bowled over by him as I was. Dr Jone's bedside manor is impeccable and if I ever need/have surgery again he will be the first person I request. I had some trauma from a past procedure (many moons ago) involving general anesthetic and Dr Jones has literally taken that fear away from me due to the great experience he gave me during this procedure and for that I am eternally great full. Dr Jones came to see me before the operation and spent time going over all my records and talking me through everything and even when I was in the operating room he made me laugh and feel extremely relaxed. Once the operation was done he stayed with his patients late into the night to make sure they was ok and to explain everything again, all of us in the recovery room commented on how great he was. so all in all if you have an impending operation Dr Jones is your man.

Fantastic and very understanding anaesthetist. Dr Hywel Jones bedside manner is amazing, he clearly explained what was going to happen to me before ,during and after my operation, answering any questions or worries I had and putting me completely at ease. He chatted away to me whilst I drifted off to sleep and I came back round from my anaesthetic without suffering any nausea or headache. He checked on me in the resussatation room and then a number of times when I got back to the ward. Highly recommended and if I am ever in need of another operation I hope I am fortunate enough to be in his capable hands. Broomfield Hospital is very lucky to have such a remarkable Doctor.
