May I take this opportunity express my sincere appreciation for the professionalism of Prof' Paul Lee and his team. The treatment, advice and support I have, and continue to receive is superb. I have always enjoyed a very active life, both through many sports, pass times and up to and since my retirement from The Fire Service. I had a fall skiing 3 years ago and my right knee has gradually become more painful, to the point whereby summer 2017, I could barely walk any distance or swim without severe pain. I was making regular use of rub-in and oral painkillers. My GP referred me to see an Orthopaedic Consultant. I had a MRI scan followed up by a consultation by Prof' Paul Lee. My scan result was thoroughly explained by him, including that I had OA (Osteoarthritis) and a torn meniscus. Subsequently a knee replacement may be an option, but not necessarily for now. An Ossur Unloader One knee brace was discussed as an alternative therapy in conjunction with some lifestyle changes that could help, including exercises, turbo-trainer cycling and weight loss, thus having a direct effect on my knee strain whilst standing-up from the sitting position. I was promptly called back for instructional training and a brace to be fitted. Within 3 months I was on a WALKING holiday on the ski slopes in the Italian Alps wearing the Ossur Unloader One brace on my right leg from getting up until going to bed, with NO adverse or negative effects at all. My use of rub-in and oral painkillers is now reduced to ZERO!! 13 months on, wearing the brace is now as much a part of my life as putting on my socks and wearing my glasses with no hassle yet, many, many benefits. Through further advice from Prof' Lee and my acquisition of a Cartilage Rebound Brace by Ossur, I now have the opportunity to retry gently skiing with my Family again, which is my true passion in life and a pleasure I thought was gone forever. Once again thank you to Prof' Paul Lee and all his team for giving me a great quality of life back and for all the future opportunities and activities I may be able to participate in. Keep up the good work. 5 years on and still going strong.
