I was referred to Mr Aziz via my chemotherapy consultant. Upon meeting him both my wife and I found him very personable and extremely knowledgeable about the progression of my operation - full pelvic removal. He fully explained what surgery I needed and why and the impact it would have in me, both during my operation and after. Whilst he was the lead surgeon he took the time to reassure us that the choice of operation was considered by several senior specialist consultants and was the best option to achieve and curative outcome. He explained that it would be a big operation and a team effort to get me back to a normal lifestyle. He was kind and concerned for both my physical and mental wellbeing both at my initial consultation and throughout. During the whole process he helped place me in a positive state of mind, being consistently clear about what I could expect and when, and also made sure I had access to support. This really helped me in the recovery period. I had my operation and after a ten hour stint operating Dr Aziz took the time to call my wife to tell her how it went. I saw him daily both immediately after the operation and in the 2 week period of recovery, even on one weekend. I was monitored daily by two teams a bowel team of consultants and urology team and Dr Aziz coordinated my care. The overall decision going forward was made by Mr Aziz after considering both teams opinions. In addition I must mention the Nurses, auxiliary nurses and domestic assistants all played a major part in my recovery. The Christies is an outstanding place and I am very fortunate to be treated here and feel very lucky. Dr Aziz is still coordinating my care and I feel lucky to have him. My wife and I have no hesitation in recommending Mr Aziz to future patients. May his time at Christies be long and prosperus.
