Having not long retired after 40 years working in the NHS a pelvis X ray showed end stage osteoarthritis of my right hip. NHS (Isle of Man) informed me there was a wait for an initial orthopaedic consultation to even get on a waiting list for a total hip replacement of 8 months and an up to 4 year wait for the actual operation. Given my active lifestyle including hockey coaching, hiking and boating this was unacceptable never mind any addition issues such as sleep depravation. Tim Board was recommended to me by word of mouth direct from someone who had already benefitted from his expertise, I followed this up with some basic research and his CV speaks for itself. Right from the word go Tim was highly professional, approachable and understood my specific problems and issues including getting married and a holiday in the not too distant future which I feared my hip condition could adversely affect! There was no such thing as a stupid question and he assured me the hip replacement itself would be fine tuned to meet my active lifestyle. The operation itself took place at Euxton Hall which similarly I cannot recommend enough with a 6 week post op follow up consultation at Wrightington. One of my lasting memories is Tim demonstrating the rowing a boat leg / hip movements sitting in a chair in his office to assure me it would be safe for the now imminent boating season given he also owns a boat. This also illustrates a human touch and his down to earth approachability. Getting a new hip was a life changer and I would trust Tim implicitly. The whole process from initial consultation to 6 week post op sign off took less than 6 months well in time for getting married and our part walking holiday abroad. If I, family or friends are ever in such a situation in the future I would have no hesitation in going to or recommending Tim and I have long since resumed my favourite hobbies and pastimes. I recently had my 12 month post op assessment with a "perfect" x ray, I made the comment that I hoped my new hip would be good for the next 20 years to which Tim replied "and more"! Having any sort of major procedure is quite daunting but choosing to get my hip replacement done via Tim and his team was the best decision I could have made.
