I was referred to Mr Shah by my local NHS consultant who considered the surgery I required on my hip to be so complex that a specialist surgeon was required. Although I was grateful for the local consultant to admit to his limitations, I was initially disappointed to discover that I was to be referred to Guys Hospital in London, which is some distance from my home. However, I am now extremely grateful for the referral to Mr Shah who I believe is an excellent surgeon. As well as his medical expertise, he is also very personable and a great communicator. My surgery took place at the end of July 2014 and due to the complex nature of the surgery I required a lengthy recovery period. From the initial consultation I had with Mr Shah, through to my recent 6 monthly check up, I have received excellent treatment from a consultant who is both clearly medically gifted and emotionally intelligent. It is likely that I will require further surgery in the future and even if this could be accommodated locally, I will be requesting Mr Shah as my surgeon as I have total confidence in him.
