I had a routine double wisdom teeth extraction yesterday at Luton and Dunstable Hospital. I was anxious as my sister had a dreadful experience years ago having the same procedure. The junior doctor explained the procedure well and went through consent etc The nurses were very attentive and caring. Unfortunately one tooth stubbornly refused to budge and after 10 minutes I found myself shaking and upset. The team immediately stopped and brought me some water. Mr Mirza then came in to advise and help. He introduced himself to me. Before he looked at my teeth he asked what I was feeling, explained about how Adrenaline in the anaesthetic can make you shake and feel jittery. I felt very confident that he would be able to help and he did in just a few minutes each tooth had been removed and I am recovering well. He was clear and supportive in his feedback to the junior doctor afterwards. All in all, everything a consultant should be! Thank you.
