What can I say? Thank you just doesn't cover it! I met Mr Auplish when my mother took a fall and broke both her wrists in 2014. His amazing care was just outstanding so when I had a Shoulder Problem, in late 2015 there was no question as to whom I wished to see. First of all despite seeing many patients, he remembered me coming with Mum to many appointments and procedures, so his patient familiarity and bedside manner is on point! He is very attentive and a great listener, and carried out diagnostic tests, and physio straight away to get my "frozen shoulder" moving again. After Physio, which was unsuccessful the first time around, and a Strong Steroid injection carried out in theatre, and a clear MRI, I was starting to think I was imagining the pain and started to feel silly going to appointments but not being able to pin point where the pain was. Mr Auplish, was so supportive and was on my side to get to the cause of my poorly shoulder. My arm was so swollen and my shoulder was so tight I said I felt like cutting it off, and when the pain got too much, and when my fingers had swollen so much that I could not get my very new wedding ring on, and my hand went cold and a blueish tinge (I got Married in June this year, so it shows how bad my shoulder was as 6 weeks after my wedding my rings were stuck) he knew something was not right and he scheduled immediate surgery, which was done the following week. Mr Auplish's rule is "I will only carry out surgery as a last resort" (so my shoulder was pretty bad) I had a Subacromial Decompression to which he found a few things wrong inside my shoulder and fixed them all in one operation!!! AMAZING!!! I am now 5 weeks post operation, and have around 80-85% mobility back to my shoulder which was once so very painful. He has also found out that I am Hypermobile with signs of a condition called EDS, which my physio has also diagnosed me with- They have both recommended a very good Dr in that field. He has seen me frequently to keep an eye on progress, and was as a surgeon surprised to find an issue with my shoulder as (his words) I am young, and a Zumba instructor, so shouldn't really have shoulder problems with my level of fitness. The conclusion was that my shoulder was not "text book" and he had never seen a shoulder like it before (i.e MRI was clear, I could still move it in a certain way) I am so very Lucky to have such a great Surgeon/ Consultant as without him I'd still be in agony and probably not able to wear my wedding rings. I cannot Thank Mr Auplish enough for: 1) Being such a supportive and blooming AMAZING Dr 2) Sympathising (genuinely too- not just a Clinical sympathy) with the pain and being so determined to fix me before his big move. (He said I was the patient he wanted to see completely repaired before he moved) 3) Calming me down prior to both my Injection (I hate needles) and Surgery as I get very frightened 4) Has made life with three children, two of which are babies SO MUCH EASIER as before the surgery I could not lift them without being in agony, nor push their pram, or drive, and the school run was agony. So my day to day life was adversely affected and is now completely restored. YES I am driving 5 weeks post op (actually I started driving 3 weeks post op- that's how amazing he is) 5) Explaining absolutely everything to me in every single appointment, admission, and procedure. 6) Ensuring your care is carried on whether you're referred to physio or any where else, and checks up on you every now and then. - First class care!! He is such an amazing Dr whom I trust implicitly and so much so that he is now treating my daughter who has a poorly finger. I can safely say he is our family Dr/ Surgeon. Aside from Mr Auplish being an amazing Dr. He is also a really lovely person. He is down to earth, caring and well, just normal. He can relate to just about everyone and their life situations so he can really understand how pain can affect you and has an utter determination to make you feel a million times better, by both clinically, and by with his way of words. Whether it's encouragement to keep up with the physio, or reassuring you that the pain won't be forever, he really is a great Dr. He has such a great level of trust. and I would not trust anyone else with my shoulder problem. (My GP thought it was just a trapped nerve- and it wasn't until I insisted on a referral that Mr Auplish knew straight away it wasn't just a trapped nerve). We wish you the best of luck with your new life in York. We will miss having such an amazing Dr close by. And if in the future we had any further issues, we would travel to York, just to be seen by in my opinion one of the most trustworthy Drs ever! To anyone who is reading this, Mr Auplish is definitely the Surgeon you must choose. He will change your life for the better. He has with mine and I could not be more grateful! Thank you Sunil!!! Best wishes to you, and your Family. With so much thanks and kindest regards Mrs Natasha Whitmore & Family. xxx
