What can I say........ amazing, awesome, brilliant.....I could go on and on. Mr Auplish was recommended to me by another consultant who I could not be more grateful to. I met Mr Auplish about 3 years ago when I first had problems with my shoulder and thumb. What an amazing person I thought, the time he took to speak to me, the empathy he showed, the way he explained the problems I had with both my shoulder and thumb, I knew I was in great hands and I needn't worry about anything as he said "I can make you better". That's all I needed to hear!! As a born worrier his level of expertise meant everything to me. He made me feel relaxed and reassured me about everything. I left everything in his hands and let him look after me. For a doctor to understand his patients like he did with me meant everything, everyone is different and he absolutely recognised that. He recognised by just speaking to me that I was a worrier and that I needed help not only for my shoulder and thumb but with my mental outlook on life. He recommended me to see a counsellor, he wrote to my GP and within weeks I was being treated by a psychologist and having CBT sessions. When I saw him again he was so happy to see how much these sessions had made a difference to the way I was thinking and how decisive and reassured i seemed. What I loved about him was that he didn't rush into anything but gave me the opportunity to to get better with physiotherapy and when that didn't work recommended steroid injections and only recommended surgery at the last resort after 3 years of seeing him. A few weeks ago I saw Mr Auplish again as the pain in my shoulder had got so bad and he had already warned me that if the pain did come back he would resort to surgery and that is exactly what I am now waiting for. On my last consultantation with him he spent an hour, yes an "HOUR" with me explaining what he would be doing during surgery and the prognosis. And then .......... He drops the bombshell that he's moving to York. OMG, I was stunned and lost for words! I started getting teary!!! "Who's going to look after me?" He was so reassuring and explained all the plans he had in place to ensure he still saw his ongoing patients following surgery and aftercare. I am now waiting for surgery on my shoulder in the next few weeks and I know I will be in great hands with Mr Auplish. All I can say is that all you people in York are so lucky to be getting an orthopaedic surgeon as great as Mr Auplish. I could go on and on and on praising him but I am sure you can all see from what I have written he truly is an amazing person not only an amazing doctor. My husband and I wish and his family the very best in York and I will certainly be travelling to York if and when I need to see him. It's a small price to pay when you have a doctor so well respected and brilliant at his job. All the very best Mr Auplish Fariha and Yasar Raza
