After 20 months of unbearable back and hip pain, physiotherapy, painkillers, x-rays and MRI I was finally diagnose with hip dysplasia and needed a full hip replacement surgery. I met Dr. Alazzawi in August 2020 at St. Georges's Hospital at my appointment with Trauma and Orthopaedic Clinic. He explain my choices and in details told me about the operation, recovery and realistic expectation afterwards. At that stage I was very disabled and could not walk for more that 5 minutes, couldn't sleep from constant pain, couldn't dress myself or work and could not do everyday activity. I put significant amount of weight on due to mental and physical effects of my condition. My 8 years old son was missing out on time with me as a normal things like a walk or taking him to playground was not possible. At the age of 38 it was rather upsetting and stressful but Dr. Alazzawi put me at ease, he was so professional and respectful. Within month i already received my operation date and as promise I had my operation just over two months from my first appointment. The operation went well ( the hip and back pain that I have suffered from for 2 years went straight away)and the recovery was good and exactly how Dr.Alazzawi described. 6 weeks on: I can walk without stick for more than an hour, I can drive, return to work, quality of my life it's great and I can enjoy my life and my son again. I feel that Dr.Alazazawi is doing his job with such a precision and passion. I am so grateful and so happy.

I have always been nervous to undergo a total knee replacement. It took me ten years to finally go under the knife on 20 October 2020. My nervousness stemmed from a life changing occurrence that happened to my mother. She had a hip replacement and was never able to walk again. My worry was that the same could happen to me too, albeit my surgery was for a knee replacement. But I needn't have worried at all. Mr Sulaiman Alazzawi from St George's Hospital, Tooting put my mind at rest. In the morning of the surgery at Epsom General, he answered all my questions and reassured me that I was in good hands. Following the surgery and after the post op x-ray, Mr Alazzawi came to visit me and said that he had studied the post-op x-ray and all was well. However, the next day, I had a small bleed on the new knee. Mr Alazzawi heard about this from the doctors doing their daily rounds and came to see me again and told me not worry about that as steps were taken to ensure that the bleeding would stop. He even went that extra mile and gave me his secretary's phone number, in case I needed to speak to him about the bleed or any other concerns I may have. I saw Mr Alazzawi in person at St George's at 6 week stage. He was pleased with the progress I had made with the recovery. I could walk without the crutches and he was pleased with that. He physically examined my operated knee and we discussed some of the exercises that would help me at mid-stage recovery period. I also mentioned that over the years my left leg had bent because of the severe arthritis. He said that I should be able to walk straight again once the swelling had gone down (which could take up to 12 months). To monitor my progress, he decided to see me face to face again in 6 months time. I was very pleased with this outcome. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Alazzawi for carrying out the total knee replacement surgery on my left knee and for his great care during the difficult period of recovery.

MR ALAWAZZI has been excellent, at treating me from day 1. Prior to the Operation he was able to explain what would be required up to and beyond the actual Operation. I have absolute trust in him. I value his advice 100%. He is always polite, caring and professional, including taking time to ensure I understood the proceedure. I would highly recommend Mr Alawazzi.

Mr Alazzawi put me at ease from the moment I met him. His cheery disposition and obvious concern for his patients meant I trusted him implicitly and he has a way of explaining things that made it easy for me to understand. I appreciated the fact that he came to the ward after my op for a chat and check up. A lovely warm caring man that I was lucky to have as my doctor.

Mr Alazzawi operated on my right hip which had undergone a series of traumas and had been unsatisfactorily treated in the past. I also suffered a broken prosthesis which was also not picked up by previous xrays and this I believe caused further damage. After two cancelled operations I transferred to St George’s where I was seen by Mr Alazzawi. What a relief! Mr Alazzawi immediately gave me confidence that something could be done: he listened to my concerns, gave me clear, honest feedback and above all conveyed a sense of positive professionalism. He clearly loves what he does, as well as being a gifted surgeon. He never talks down to his patients but communicates and answers all questions with great patience. I trusted him completely and it is down to him that after years of poor mobility, that at 72, I can now walk and enjoy life: a transformation. Thank you so much!,
