I was sent to Mr Wharton by a Dermatology consultant for further investigation and treatment for an ongoing "nose infection" problem, that was not responding to treatment. Mr Wharton saw me at Russells Hall Hospital. First impressions (usually the best) were, what a lovely gentle man. No arrogance/no aloofness and his joviality and friendliness with the nurses and staff around him, quickly put me at ease. Following tests it was clear only plastic surgery would "cut out" the infection in my nose. He sat me down, and in simplistic terms explained the operation and what he would do. As with all operations, how much he cut out depended on the extent of the infection. Operation agreed, I confirmed that HE would do the operation, of course he would. On the day of my operation, he visited me before and after the operation, just to reassure me and update me what he was going to do, and after how he thought it had gone. Now, you cannot exactly cover up/hide a nose operation, so he reassured me that it went well and would see me the following week. After a few weeks, the dressings were removed and for the first time I could see the full extent of operation on my nose to clear the infection. We needed to ensure that the infection had completely gone before further work on my nose could take place. That said, I saw Mr Wharton virtually every month and if needs be, if I needed or wanted reassurance or had issues his secretary would get me in virtually straight away. At last I decided I need to have my nose rebuilt and grafted, His secretary booked me in and in I went to see the "man". I need not have worried, he knew exactly how he was going to re-build my nose and graft it. Operation agreed/date set. On the day of my operation, He came to see me/reassure me, and told me exactly how and what he was going to do to re-build my nose, true to his word it was brilliant. I and my wife have nothing but praise and thanks to Mr Wharton. A few insights, we picked up during our 2 years under him. He is a true gentleman, kind, understanding, listens, explains, will have a joke with you, his interaction with the staff around him is amazing. I have heard said of him "artistic-caring-thoughtful", and every word is him to a tee. If ever you need plastic surgery, Mr Wharton is a real master at his craft, a credit to himself and ANY hospital that he works him. I would not believe nor my friends how brilliant my nose looks toady after the re-build and graft. It really is a masterpiece of surgery. If you want the best in our opinion, from first hand experience and knowledge, he is brilliant. I personally cannot thank him enough, AND very proud to call him my FRIEND. Mr Alan Pearson.
