Mr Lambert saw me for many years a few years ago when I was in my mid-teens, and stabilised both of my sternoclavicular joints. He has a wonderful bedside manner, and he really has his patients' best interests at heart. He took his time to explain all about my treatment and made sure I really understood so I could make decisions about what I wanted done. Completely changed my quality of life and can now do what I wanted to - I can't recommend him enough - thank you Mr Lambert!

Mr Lambert was extremely personable and gave me plenty of time. I was so glad I went to see him as he made me realise I might not need an operation. I would definitely recommend him.

Mr Lambert is a fantastic consultant. He has a wonderful manner, and is a true gentleman. I felt at ease from the moment I met him. Mr Lambert replaced both of my shoulders within 13 months of each other. Both operations went very smoothly, and after a year, i am now pain free. The shoulders themselves are not standard replacements, due to the extent of the damage, so were built especially for me from scans taken by Mr Lambert. Although I am left with limited function, it is no worse that I had with the damaged shoulders, and I now have no pain. I am therefore happy with the results.

I had a number of rounds of treatment, but Simon was the first consultant who took his time to understand what was going on, explained everything and filled me with confidence in the treatment route. He came very highly recommended by a number of different people and completely lived up to his reputation.

A very sympathetic listener and very good at explaining the problem with my shoulder and providing a prognosis. I came away feeling I had a much greater understanding of the issues surrounding my shoulder problems. There was a quick follow up with a letter and very helpful suggestions for physiotherapy.

Profile

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in the shoulder and elbow. I also hold an honorary academic appointment within University College London. Having worked at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH), a specialist orthopaedic hospital, where I created a research-active, educationally-acclaimed, science-based service, integrated with and recognising the extreme importance of expert rehabilitation, I have now moved to University College London Hospital. We enjoy a national reputation for clinical excellence and clinical research, which I fully expect to contribute to over the next decade. We value our national and international collaborations, and expect to develop these further with the evolution of the service. As a component of this effort my work with the AO has offered opportunities to younger colleagues while bringing the values of the AO to a wide variety of surgeons and therapists. Truly international collaboration and exchange of ideas clearly enhances and promotes the efficacy of patient-directed care and forms the basis for the motivation behind my development of the shoulder and elbow service at UCLH.
