The care which I received from Mr. Simon Lambert pre and post operatively was excellent. I appreciated that Mr. Lambert took the time to explain in detail about my injury, the operation which was performed and what I should expect post operatively during my rehabilitation. He listened to my questions and concerns. My visits to be reviewed by him were never hurried. I had total confidence in Mr. Lambert. My care was superb.

I was referred to Mr Lambert after several operations at my local hospital which ultimately failed due to the complex nature of my shoulder problems. I hadn't had the use of my left arm for over 2 years prior to seeing Mr Lambert & would without doubt had lost one if not both arms had I not been fortunate enough to referred to him. He is without question a leader in the field of complex shoulder surgery & no matter how bleak the outlook, in my experience he never gives up on a patient. Without exception every patient of his I have encountered at RNOH holds him in the same high regard, not only for his surgical expertise, but also because of his caring & respectful manner, always taking the time to listen to & respond to their concerns. A real gentleman & credit to his profession.

Mr Lambert operated on my right shoulder some years ago and the operation was a total success. He has just (2 months ago) operated on my right shoulder following a ski accident. The shoulder is recovering rapidly and I hope to be skiing again next year. Apart from his undoubted surgical expertise he has a delightful manner. He is an example to the medical profession and I am indebted to him.

Mr. Simon Lambert is not only an expert in his field but the most gracious, caring gentleman I have ever had the privilege to know. He makes each patient feel they are the most important person to him and he shows a great understanding of his patients' problems. He seems sincere and offers his best solution for the problem presented to him, even if that means transferring you to another surgeon, in another specialism. He has such a pleasant manner, never rushes your consultation and you feel confident in his care because of the way he speaks to you and delivers his advice. He would not know how to be arrogant as some surgeons, and he is so pleasant you cannot wait to meet him again. He instills confidence because of his calm manner and I cannot think of a better person to repair my artificial shoulder, which he first put in in 2004. Thank God for such wonderful surgeons. Many thanks from Patricia Ho

I was referred to Simon Lambert by another shoulder expert following several years of shoulder issue & an unsuccessful procedure on my left shoulder resulting from sporting injuries. From the first appointment with Simon to the last he came across as the upper most professional, was courteous, listened to my details, asked a lot of questions around the injury, the physical impact on me, how it affected me physically as well as mentally & I felt very comfortable & reassured in talking to him & listening to his diagnosis along the way. Immediately after the surgery he was quick to see me & assess progress , all of which was very reassuring & I am pleased to say that after 4 months since the surgery I have seen him today for what I hope is the last time (meant in the nicest possible way). His appointments & the hospital itself are not local to me by any means but the outcome to date has certainly underlined to me personally that sometimes if you want the best then you need to go the extra mile (or 35) to get it. I would not hesitate recommending Simon to anyone who has shoulder issues & needs someone reputable & highly professional for an opinion

Profile

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in the shoulder and elbow. I also hold an honorary academic appointment within University College London. Having worked at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH), a specialist orthopaedic hospital, where I created a research-active, educationally-acclaimed, science-based service, integrated with and recognising the extreme importance of expert rehabilitation, I have now moved to University College London Hospital. We enjoy a national reputation for clinical excellence and clinical research, which I fully expect to contribute to over the next decade. We value our national and international collaborations, and expect to develop these further with the evolution of the service. As a component of this effort my work with the AO has offered opportunities to younger colleagues while bringing the values of the AO to a wide variety of surgeons and therapists. Truly international collaboration and exchange of ideas clearly enhances and promotes the efficacy of patient-directed care and forms the basis for the motivation behind my development of the shoulder and elbow service at UCLH.
