Dr Lambert is obviously a very knowledgeable and experienced doctor, but more importantly, he is a kind person who has an excellent bedside manner. He was able to build my trust in the first consultation and was so modest and softly spoken, not necessarily common characteristics for an orthopedic surgeon! It was a pleasure speaking to him and I feel much more secure knowing he will be in charge of my operation. Thank you!

An empathetic and patient doctor with a very clear specialism and expertise in complex shoulder problems. Time and money well spent. Mr Lambert grasped the major issues very quickly and provided valuable and insightful advice which has proved to be extremely useful.

The experience I had with Mr. Simon Lambert at Spire Bushey Hospital was a positive one from every point of view. He was very welcoming, polite and attentive throughout the whole consultation. He carefully listened to all my concerns, paying attention to every aspect that could lead him towards a correct diagnosis and eventually adequate management. We went together to all my investigations and he patiently discussed the results with me, answering all my queries and giving me useful advice. Meeting Mr. Lambert has been very reassuring for me and gave me a complete understanding of my condition and its long-term implications. What also really impressed me was the letter that I received from him a few days later at home. It was describing my situation just as I presented to him and reconfirming to me in writing all the information related to my condition that I needed to know, advice and future management. I am truly appreciative and I recommend Mr. Lambert to anyone who needs to be assessed by a highly qualified orthopedic surgeon with a very pleasant attitude.

I was immediately impressed that Mr Lambert came to the waiting room to call me, rather than sending a nurse and he offered to carry my bag or coat. He apologised for the delay in seeing me (which wasn't a problem; it's good to know he takes as much time as necessary with his patients). He has an extremely pleasant manner and I didn't feel rushed with my explanations. The copy of the letter he has written to my GP is evidence that he noted and understood perfectly everything I told him. Mr Lambert asked if I'd like a chaperone before he examined me, which I declined. I felt the examination was thorough and I was never pushed beyond the point of discomfort. Mr Lambert explained clearly what he was going to do and what he wanted me to do and explained his findings at each stage. The consultation concluded with Mr Lambert summing up his opinion and advising the next course of action. The fact that he helped me on with my coat (something my GP has never done) also impressed me. I left his room feeling that I'd been listened to and optimistic that effective treatment is available.

Profile

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in the shoulder and elbow. I also hold an honorary academic appointment within University College London. Having worked at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH), a specialist orthopaedic hospital, where I created a research-active, educationally-acclaimed, science-based service, integrated with and recognising the extreme importance of expert rehabilitation, I have now moved to University College London Hospital. We enjoy a national reputation for clinical excellence and clinical research, which I fully expect to contribute to over the next decade. We value our national and international collaborations, and expect to develop these further with the evolution of the service. As a component of this effort my work with the AO has offered opportunities to younger colleagues while bringing the values of the AO to a wide variety of surgeons and therapists. Truly international collaboration and exchange of ideas clearly enhances and promotes the efficacy of patient-directed care and forms the basis for the motivation behind my development of the shoulder and elbow service at UCLH.
