I have travel for abroad to see Mr. Lambert as I was referred to him by my local doctors for a shoulder problem that couldn't be treated locally. After many years of uncertainty I felt so much relief that I have seen Mr. Lambert. I was really impressed how he handle me as a patient and the time he spend to listen to my history but also to examine me in detail. His expertise, great knowledge in shoulder problems and his guidance put me at ease that I have found someone that will be able to handle my difficult situation. I would like to thank him publicly for everything he did for me and he will do in the future and to recommend without any doubt!

I rarely give five star reviews but in Mr Simon Lambert's case I am very happy to as they are fully merited. His approach was wholly professional, interested, and empathetic and as a result I trusted him entirely. His analysis of the MRI scan of my shoulder was clearly communicated to me as was the treatment and the prognosis.

I was very impressed with Mr Lamberts manner during my examination .He is extremely polite gentle and very caring. I felt that throughout the consultation he took down very detailed notes so that he was absolutely clear about the pain and discomfort I was feeling.

I cannot recommend Mr Simon Lambert highly enough. Both his pre and post-operation care was outstanding. He was very respectful, attentive and took the time to understand why the shoulder trauma had happened in the first place in the context of the wider relevant picture of my age, health, work/home life. He carefully explained what my condition might be looking at the MRI scan. He then talked me through the options of key hole or open surgery and what the prognosis, pros and cons of each might be. He was careful not to make false promises and managed my expectations of outcomes and therefore allowed me to consider all the options and make an informed decision. The surgery turned out to be rather complicated once the shoulder had been opened up and again, post-op he took the time to visit and explain in full what he had done surgically. I found his support staff to be excellent and efficient too and I received prompt and full written reports after each meeting. Mr Lambert provided clear instructions for physiotherapy to ensure gentle progress and a good outcome. Five months post-op I had a second consultation and have been discharged. Shoulder surgery if fairly unpleasant in terms of the recovery but I felt well informed and well looked after so that this made the process so much more manageable and was I am presuming quicker too as a result. If you are requiring shoulder surgery then do not hesitate to consider Mr Lambert as your consultant/surgeon. I have every confidence that he will never perform unnecessary surgery and always has the patients best interests at heart (e.g. I had to undergo more invasive open surgery as this was the best option for me rather than the 'popular' key hole surgery).

Mr Lambert saw me for a problem with my shoulder He was polite , professional and attentive He represented for me the best of service by a doctor with exemplary listening skills, attention to detail:in history taking, the layers of my life that been affected by this problem.A focused examination helped to decide how to move forward, in terms of investigation and treatment.Susequently an explanation of what the options for treatment were. I was reassured that he was treating me as a person, rather than just my shoulder I am priveledged to have met him and to be under his care

Profile

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in the shoulder and elbow. I also hold an honorary academic appointment within University College London. Having worked at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH), a specialist orthopaedic hospital, where I created a research-active, educationally-acclaimed, science-based service, integrated with and recognising the extreme importance of expert rehabilitation, I have now moved to University College London Hospital. We enjoy a national reputation for clinical excellence and clinical research, which I fully expect to contribute to over the next decade. We value our national and international collaborations, and expect to develop these further with the evolution of the service. As a component of this effort my work with the AO has offered opportunities to younger colleagues while bringing the values of the AO to a wide variety of surgeons and therapists. Truly international collaboration and exchange of ideas clearly enhances and promotes the efficacy of patient-directed care and forms the basis for the motivation behind my development of the shoulder and elbow service at UCLH.
