I took my 11 year old son to see Mr Lambert this past week. We have had an awful and stressful 19 weeks trying to sort out my son’s complex shoulder damage due to an incident in a PE lesson. Mr Lambert is the 4th Orthopaedic Consultant we have seen to try and resolve the damage and pain my son is experiencing. Mr Lambert is so kind, spent so much time with us and was beyond thorough. He spoke with such wisdom and care, my son kept saying how kind he is and it was a blessing to meet Mr Lambert. We will be speaking to him again this coming week to put my son’s treatment plan in place. We can’t recommend Mr Lambert highly enough.
Good bedside manner; very patient with me. Helpful when I found it difficult to undress. Listened to me and explained options clearly. Did not press me to decide which option to take. Wrote to my GP quickly and as a result I have an NHS appointment for steroid injection in February. I will take this up but if it does not have desired effect will have shoulder operation for which I will return to Mr Lambert as he instilled me with confidence.
I was very well cared for - I was able to obtain an early emergency appointment, and was kept waiting for less than 10 minutes. I found Mr Lambert very attentive and he listened carefully and politely to me. He inspires confidence and I believe that his diagnosis was correct. I also appreciate his conservative approach to intervention procedures. I found him kind and caring. One thing I should have done is asked him to explain one or two of the medical terms he used - my fault, not his!
What a nice respectful man who listened and gave me all the time needed to explain my medical issues.
Mr Lambert is the first orthopaedic surgeon has the best patient care I have experienced. He has a very gentle manner, listenscarefully and intently (including yup his registrars when they need his advice). Most importantly, Mr Lambert he performed a really complex
reconstruction of my badly damaged shoulder. I am still in recovery but it is already showing signs of success. I could not be more grateful.

Profile
I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in the shoulder and elbow. I also hold an honorary academic appointment within University College London. Having worked at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH), a specialist orthopaedic hospital, where I created a research-active, educationally-acclaimed, science-based service, integrated with and recognising the extreme importance of expert rehabilitation, I have now moved to University College London Hospital. We enjoy a national reputation for clinical excellence and clinical research, which I fully expect to contribute to over the next decade. We value our national and international collaborations, and expect to develop these further with the evolution of the service. As a component of this effort my work with the AO has offered opportunities to younger colleagues while bringing the values of the AO to a wide variety of surgeons and therapists. Truly international collaboration and exchange of ideas clearly enhances and promotes the efficacy of patient-directed care and forms the basis for the motivation behind my development of the shoulder and elbow service at UCLH.
