Mr Awad is pragmatic, realistic and encouraging. It was a big decision for me to go for this surgery. I did a lot of research, talked to my family and looked at several doctors in different countries. From the initial conversation with Mr Awad I felt I was in good hands. He listened to me, talked me through all of the options and was open about the pros and cons of doing surgery and of the different surgeries. He took the time to answer all of my questions (and I had many). He also tried to understand my lifestyle and took that into consideration in guiding me on my options and how I could approach the pre-op phase. One night I sent him an SMS at 10pm and got a response within 30 minutes and he followed up with an encouraging message. On the day of my surgery Mr Awad visited me and explained what he was going to do,, what would happen immediately afterwards, how I would feel at different stages of recovery. He made sure I was comfortable to go ahead and again took time to answer my questions. I saw him before going to the theatre and again he was confident and reassuring. So there is a consistent theme here. Mr Awad is a very caring doctor. He visited several times after the surgery, checking on my progress and providing lots of encouragement. I'm sure that Mr Awad has many patients but at no point did I feel like just "another patient" or that he was too busy, distracted or preoccupied. With Mr Awad, it's not only about the surgery. He has put a lot of emphasis on how I can recover well. He has even given thought to ensuring that my scars are minimal and advising me on how to take care of them. In fact, were it not for the fact that I'm not hungry at all, it's hard to tell that I've had a surgery - the incisions are miniscule. I'm happy about my choice of doctor and I'm looking forward to the journey ahead.
