Mr Heaton was thorough and told me why I needed a new knee, and although the recovery was a little longer than i thought it would be, every body is different for recovery. On a couple of occasions I was a little unsure of my knee, the swelling and pain i was getting, but i rang the hospital, spoke to a nurse, and the same day I saw my surgeon to make i was okay. Needless to say everything was fine, but if you have had nothing like it done before you don't want to expect. He was very understanding and said, if you any doubts give us a call. Now i have been discharged completely after 7 months, with no pain at all, and very good movement, only a small amount of numbness which he told me might take up to 18 months to go. One of my friends has asked me was it worth it, the answer is yes, otherwise I could have ended up in a wheelchair for life. I have always been told if a surgeon offers you surgery on whatever part of your body, its because you need - and i certainly needed it.
