I cannot recommend Mr Thiruchelvam highly enough. He made my journey, which began with my breast cancer diagnosis through to post surgery, very comfortable. He was very approachable and happy to answer all of the questions posed by myself and my husband . He also explained the histology reports so I was clear about all of my biopsy results at each stage. Throughout I found it very easy to discuss my treatment with him. He clearly explained each step of the procedure and translated the medical terminology into layman's terms. I was confident in all of the recommendations that he made, including the best bra to wear after surgery. We discussed the surgical procedure and he recommended that Mr Leff, another consultant onplastic surgeon, could assist by carrying out the reconstructive surgery to the other breast. What is clear is that he loves what he does and that enthusiasm makes him approachable and easy to talk to, which is exactly what you need when facing breast cancer. I have had no problems during my recovery from my mastectomy. Since then several other medical practitioners have commented on the neatness of the reconstructive surgery and I am proud to tell them that Mr Thiruchelvam is my consultant.
