When I decided to move from the NHS to private care last December due to delays in my breast cancer treatment plan I was extremely anxious. Dr Paul Thiruchelvam had been highly recommended to me and I could not have had a better surgeon. Dr Paul was very thorough in every step of the way, from diagnosis to surgery (I had numerous imaging done as my tumour was not easily seen on the previous scans), he once said to me that 'We plan for the worst and hope for the best.' and I believe that is how you deal with cancer, you can't take any risks! He recommended neoadjuvant chemo and in the end I had complete pathological response which was fantastic! He has a very busy schedule but still took time to answer all my questions and believe me I had so many! Dr. Paul recently performed a double mastectomy with immediate implant reconstruction as well as sentinel node biopsy for me. My operation was very challenging as I had had a mastopexy in the past, I was in theatre for 12hs and when I woke up I could see him and his team! He called my husband to say everything went to plan. I had an excellent recovery, left hospital on day 4 and I'm very pleased with the results 4 weeks post op. I appreciate so much the amazing work Dr Paul and his team have done and feel very safe that he will be the one following me up in the next few years. He is a wonderful surgeon and I recommend him to anyone needing breast surgery.
