I had several consultations with Mr Swinn following a raised PSA result (35). He arranged an immediate MRI which proved clear and several recurrent PSA tests over which, fortunately, the results returned to the normal range. I was grateful for his expert judgement in holding back on more invasive, procedures which thankfully proved unnecessary. Now discharged from his care with an invitation to contact him again with any future concerns, I cannot recommend this very personable and communicative gentleman highly enough. An absolute credit to the medical profession.
In January 2015 I experienced a fairly large show of blood in my urine. I sought the advice of my GP which led to his referral , at my request, to Mr Michael Swinn, a leading
Consultant Urelogical Surgeon at my local hospital (East Surrey) and at Spire Gatwick. A resulting series of tests arranged by Mr Swinn detected high grade bladder cancer which led to my inclusion in the then ongoing programme of BCG Chemo instillations at The East Surrey. Though the full prescribed treatment programme was completed the overall outcome was deemed as less than satisfactory and raised the probability of a need for radical surgery-a process I was very anxious to avoid. Michael Swinn took my concerns fully on board and was successful in arranging my inclusion in an alternative therapy then being trialled at St. Georges Hospital Tooting (“HYperthemic Mitomycin) This proved successful and since late 2015 my bladder, which has continued to be regularly monitored by Michael Swinn and has remained free of CIS.
The question, therefore “Did I get great care from Michael Swiinn and did he listen? can very clearly be answered with a resounding “Yes, Yes”!
In January 2015 I experienced a show of blood in my urine and sought the advice of my GP. This led to a referral, at my request, to Mr Michael Swinn, Consultant Urological Surgeon at East Surrey Hospital. A series of tests carried out or arranged by him detected high grade Bladder CIS which led to my inclusion in a programme of BCG chemo instillations at the hospital. The outcome was less than successful and raised the probability of a need for radical surgery- a process I was personally very anxious to avoid at any cost. Michael Swinn took my concerns fully on board and was successful in arranging my inclusion in an alternative therapy then being trialled by a colleague surgeon at St George’s Hospital Tooting (“Hyperthemic Mitomycin”). This proved highly effective in eliminating my CIS, and as once again recently proven by my most recent. Cystoscopy in October 2023. Your question “Did I get great care from Michael Swinn” must be clearly be answered with a resounding “YES”!

Mr Swinn puts you immediately at ease, explains thoroughly your condition and options. He gives you ample time to go through the whole process and is always available for any questions, either at the consultation or later.
I can’t imagine how his care/manner/helpfulness could be improved.
