I had a knee replacement by Mr Cope 12 months ago. Great care from beginning to end. I had several follow up appointments with him, and he always listened gave me answers in plain English and both of us delighted that my surgery was a 100% success. I had lived for years in pain.

I had my second Hip Replacement on 17th Oct at Fulwood Hall and have to say due the fantastic care and attention that i received on my first replacement i was really looking forward to the operation. Mr Cope and his team were again fantastic and i am actually able to walk without crutch or stick now 4 days after op. (i do use stick to be safe) Mr Cope and his team explained everything thoroughly and made sure i understood everything before proceeding. If i were to say anything to help any other person considering or about to have this surgery i would simply say do everything Mr Cope tells you to do in the way he tells you to do it and you will be amazed at the result.

This man is a genius (I don't think I have used that expression very often) - I had investigated having my knee done by others using robotic techniques. Mr Cope reassured me that by the time this equipment could be set up, he could be in and out and job done. The longer you are on the operating table, the greater risk of infection. I had complicated metalwork to be removed (Tomofix) that had been in 15 years and he still only took 61 minutes start to finish (but without that it would be around 45 mins I believe). He had to use a screw extraction kit on such embedded screws but it was no problem to him. The easiest test I can recommend to you is to research (https://www.nhs.uk/profiles/consultant/4334039#knee-replacement) how many of these procedures your other surgeon has carried out in the last 12 months - Mr Cope has done almost 3 times the number of knee operations than most other surgeons that I considered. He knows his way around a knee! I would not hesitate in recommending him. Rick Robinson

I was referred to Mr. Cope as an NHS referral through my GP. I was experiencing severe knee pain. After viewing my Xray Mr. Cope advised me to have a partial knee replacement, which he did within four weeks of my appointment. He advised me to check out his website and watch information videos. I did and found them most helpful. Renacres Hospital is a very efficient and friendly place and I was looked after very well post op. The physiotherapists were very kind and helpful and gave me exercises to do both pre- and post-op. I hardly experienced any pain and my movement is very encouraging, helped, I am sure, by doing the exercises three times a day. I had my six week post-op appointment with Mr. Cope yesterday. He showed me my post-op X-ray and asked if I had any questions and listened to any concerns I had. He answered all my questions and put my mind at ease about the swelling and stiffness I am experiencing. I was told to make an appointment for six months time, when I will have a repeat X-ray and he will review my progress again. I would certainly recommend Mr. Cope to anyone requiring orthopaedic surgery.
