MY VISIT TO MR KOTHARI. WAS VERY PROVISIONAL - REASSURING AND CARING. I AM HAPPY THAT IN THIS CASE THERE WAS NO FURTHER VISITS PLANNED. I WOULD RECOMMEND MR KOTHARI AS A PERFECT CONSULTANT - WHEN YOU ARE NOT FEELING YOUR BEST AND ARE WORRIED ABOUT THE OUTCOME OF YOUR VISIT. IT IS SO IMPORTANT TO BE LISTENED TO.

On the 4th January 2018, I was diagnosed with stage 4 incurable Breast cancer.. Mr Kothari was my consultant and the person who had to deliver this news and help me understand it and what it meant to myself and my family. Mr Kothari was absolutely amazing, he took his time, he explained so we would understand but didn’t patronise, he explained all our options , he was so kind and thoughtful, I couldn’t have been in better hands. He always wrote a letter to follow up on any discussion we had, which was great as I forgot lots of details. When you get news like this you need someone to trust and to care and luckily for my family and i we found that in Mr Kothari

When I first met Mr Kothari I was very scared as I had just found a lump on my breast which subsequently required a mastectomy and reconstruction. He was immediately reassuring to both myself and my husband and calmed us down enormously. He is such a lovely man and took a lot of time explaining everything in detail to us at every stage. He gave me choices and backed the choices I made. He is very honest, compassionate and easy to talk to and he made me feel like I was his most important patient. Most importantly I was very impressed with the results of my operation and how quickly everything happened, I only had to stay one night in hospital and my scar was really neat. I also have to mention his fabulous nurse Jo who is available to call 7 days a week, which I did take advantage of one weekend. I also discovered later that he was Victoria Derbyshire’s consultant, she has written a book about her experience with cancer and mentions Mr Kothari. I have nothing but praise for Mr Kothari and would highly recommend him to anyone in a similar situation.

On first meeting Mr Kothari, I felt that I was in good hands. On my first visit to Ashford Hospital I had a mammogram, an ultrasound scan, a fine needle aspiration and a core biopsy. all the practitioners that I met were very kind and caring. I felt that all the procedures were explained fully and carried out in a professional way. On my second visit Mr Kothari explained that I was to have an excision biopsy, and I underwent all the pre-op assessments. All of this had happened very quickly, and I don't believe I could have receive better care anywhere. On the day of my surgery I met with the "team" at individual times. I was able to speak to the anaesthetist, who listened to my concerns. On my follow up appointment, Mr Kothari was able to give me good news. He wanted to know how my experience had been, and I must say that the whole experience, despite being a bit scary, was amazing. Mr Kothari reassured me throughout my appointments, and I feel secure in recommending him as a great surgeon.
