I received care following receipt of the NHS abdominal aortic aneurism letter at age 65. My father had almost died following rupture of an undiagnosed aneurism. On first scan at a local surgery an aneurism was found and monitored until early this year when it had expanded to its maximum. I was referred to Mr Moawad and his team at St Peter's and Ashford Hospitals and was quickly brought forward for surgery in May to insert a stent. All was explained to me at each stage and the operation went ahead expeditiously. I was released within 24 hours and made a good recovery within two months. I am happy with the follow up including CT scan which enabled me to attend an important business meeting in New York this month. I consider this program to be very important and recommend that it be rolled out more widely. I have advised my brothers to be checked as I gather that it follows the male line.
