I first met Mr Carmichael at the Fitzwilliam Hospital having been referred to him for an ankle fusion. He explained that my operation wasn't at all straight forward and would need to be done by himself at Peterborough City Hospital. His wealth of knowledge, experience and confidence made me feel at ease straight away. I needed my existing metalwork removed prior to an ankle fusion for complex trauma being done. Mr Carmichael was excellent at explaining each procedure prior to me being admitted and put me at ease before both surgeries with his calm, knowledgeable and "can do" mannerism. After surgery he came to my bedside and fully explained what had been done and answered any questions I had in a relaxed way. All follow up appointments were done by himself and everything was explained so that I easily understood. I found him to be a very down to earth guy who is obviously an excellent surgeon and I would have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending him to anyone. In a nutshell, he gave me my life back.
