I have been suffering with arthritis in my right ankle for 3 years and struggled to walk. I was eventually referred to Mr. Carmichael an Orthopaedic Consultant/Surgeon for Peterborough City Hospital and also Fitzwilliam Hospital. I chose to see him at the Fitzwilliam. He explained that if I wanted to be pain free for the rest of my life, I needed an ankle fusion operation, as a previous cortisone injection did not work. It sounded drastic, but with his honest and caring manner, not forgetting his bubbling confidence, I found it very easy to trust him. He was true to his word, I had the operation in December 2017 and now it is April, I am walking very well and pain free...What a result!! Everything was done in a very professional manner, the Fitzwilliam Hospital was first class, and everyone caring and only too pleased to help. I am very impressed with Mr. Carmichael, his honesty and professionalism and I will always recommend him to other patients. The hospital should be proud to have such an excellent surgeon as part of their organisation. Yes I am really thrilled with the outcome. At 72 years of age time was not on my side, now it is! I have my life back. Cheers!!!
