Mr Polyzois was great the whole way through my shoulder treatment. I picked up a ruptured ligament on my AC joint playing rugby and had discomfort and lost a lot of strength and mobility through it, so contacted the Runneymede Hospital through my private insurance policy. Having never dealt with Mr Polyzois before I wasn't sure what to expect but from arriving for my first appointment with him I was very impressed by the treatment I received. In the initial appointment I explained how it happened and the symptoms I was experiencing, and within 10 minutes I'd had the X-ray done and we were discussing the next steps. Mr Polyzois explained that from the X-ray it looked like a rupture of the ligament but as the severity of the rupture wasn't conclusive, I would need an MRI scan. I had the MRI scan the following week and saw Mr Polyzois again for a second appointment within a week of the first. The efficiency of care continued throughout the experience of the treatment. Once the extent of the rupture of the realised Mr Polyzois explained about LARS treatment which is the replacement of the ruptured ligament with a synthetic one. He explained what it was and answered any questions I had on it....the main one being 'will I be able to get back to playing rugby?'. He explained the benefits of the operation and that most patients make a full recovery, he also encouraged me to also do some research on it to make sure I was happy with the procedure before making the decision. My aim is to return to playing to rugby so this would be my best option to do so. I found Mr Polyzois was very understanding of what I wanted out of the treatment. The operation was successful and the after care has been very good since. Mr Polyzois is always very accessible through regular appointments and shows a lot of interest in how the joint is healing. A slight infection arose on the scar, Mr Polyzois showed concern and prescribed antibiotics to settle the infection. I had regular check ups with Mr Polyzois to ensure the infection didn't spread until he was happy it had completely gone. Since the operation and ongoing physiotherapy I've felt a great improvement to the functionality of the joint as it continues to strengthen. Overall the experience has been very positive and I'm very happy with the treatment received from Mr Polyzois, his staff and the staff at the Runneymede Hospital.
