Very friendly, helpful and informative. Answered my questions before I even needed to ask them. Told me everything I needed to know about my condition and was very reassuring. Was recommended to me by a friend who has undergone surgery very successfully with this doctor and also by my physiotherapist.

All the reviews about Mr Spink are true, he is a professional, caring, calm, and reassuring gentleman on top of that a top surgeon and I can understand why so many patients have bothered to spend the time writing a review. I can't make any suggestions on how to improve on perfection.

I was admitted as an emergency through the A and E department, having had excruciating pain for a fortnight. I had seen a number of doctors prior to it being discovered that I had a ruptured disc in my cervical spine. Having had an emergency MRI I was advised that I needed to be admitted under the care of Mr Spink with the high likelihood of surgery being required. I was seen by Mr Spink himself within an hour of admission and can honestly say that he is a very caring, compassionate and kind gentleman. His explanation of the risks involved with surgery, against the option of a non-surgical approach, were thorough and uncomplicated and I found his manner to be most reassuring. Whilst the risks were there, I chose to go ahead with surgery and this was carried out just 36 hours later. On the day of surgery Mr Spink visited me three times on the ward, firstly before going to theatre, and then twice following my operation with different groups of medical students. His teaching method with his junior colleagues was mesmerising and he should be applauded for taking these doctors of the future to meet with real patients, with real problems, rather than text-book teaching that does not equate to hands-on care. The staff on Ward 4 at Hull Royal Infirmary looking after me, and my husband and family whilst they were there, were exceptional...I cannot thank any of them enough for the care that I received. From admission through to discharge was faultless. Considering the great expectations of patients and relatives of the nursing and medical staff, along with the pressures of staffing and the tràumatic cases that the team must see at times, I cannot give the team praise enough for their care. Would I recommend Mr Spink? Absolute 100% without hesitation. He is a credit to his profession and testament to the fact that yes we can really get Great Care. Many many thanks to you all for making a very frightening and unexpected experience so much easier.

Listened to all my concerns about the ACDF Proceedure I was about to under go - As one would expect but it was the small things that made the difference as well - I am a paraplegic due to a climbing accident many years ago, I explained my worries about the risks of pressure.sores during the Operation, Becoming cold in post Op, etc - Mr Spink told me exactly how the operation would go and how he would reduce ANY risk of pressure sores, reduce the risk of being cold post-operation, etc. I have to say I have never been so relaxed in going into the Operation Theatre. I cannot rate Mr Spink highly enough, a consummate Proffessional who has that special little extra...... If you are dealing with this Neurosergeon then you are in very safe hands .
