Mr Kosuge was the surgeon for my total hip replacement at Rivers Hospital. He was both approachable and professional - he listened carefully to me and explained the options clearly. When, during our second meeting, I expressed some doubts about going ahead with the operation, he was kind and understanding and didn't try to convince me to go ahead, saying that it was my decision and that I should go with how I felt - and that I could cancel the operation if I wanted. I really appreciated this lack of pressure and after further thought I decided to proceed. On the day of the operation Mr Kosuge was reassuring and clear about what was going to happen and the surgery went well and according to plan. He had provided useful advice about how to ensure a good recovery and avoid problems post-surgery and he was quite emphatic about the importance of some details. I gathered that he is particularly careful about minimising the risks to patients of infection, DVT and dislocation, something I really respected. Overall it was a completely positive experience and I have no hesitation in recommending Mr Kosuge.
