Mr Rae was my surgeon for a gall bladder removal (keyhole). At the consultation i went prepared with a lot of questions which he was very happy to answer. I asked him about his own experience and track record/results with this surgery. I gained confidence from him discussing the details in a balanced way and his openness. He was also very good on the day itself and when i gave some minor feedback about the ward procedures was very understanding and welcoming of this. He came to see me on the ward afterwards to say how things went. Pleasant guy throughout and easy to deal with. The surgery went well. I had a lot (more than my expectation ) of bruising around the main wound where the camera had been. The closure of the wounds is very neat. The area around the wounds stayed hard for some weeks after, but this subsided and we think it may have been glue which had to dissolve/be absorbed?? I would have liked to have known about some of these details ideally, but this was not a big deal. If i were unfortunate enough to need another surgery i would certainly be reassured if i knew Mr Rae would be my surgeon.
