I saw Mr Hartwright having seen two previous hip specialists who had been extremely disappointing in their approach and advice. Mr Hartwright was a breath of fresh air. He clearly described all of the options available to me and guided me toward a decision on total hip replacement. I am a young minded, 50 yr old ultra endurance mountain biker competing regularly in races and having worked really hard at my fitness was reluctant and hesitant about having the operation. That said, I was in a high degree of pain pre op. The operation was excellent and I am, 8 weeks later, already back on the exercise bike and training hard having lost little condition. I am in no pain and relishing getting back to competition. The care has been fantastic and Mr Hartwright brilliant through out. Couldn’t recommend more highly.

Having had a hip problem for some time I was recommended by a friend to see David Hartwright. I cannot speak more highly of him, he quickly established my hip was in a poor state and it was very obvious from the x rays he showed me. When having this sort of operation it is so important to have confidence in the surgeon. David Hartwright was very knowledgeable and positive also with a very caring attitude and he assured me the operation would be very successful. Pleased to say the operation was a 100% success. Very difficult to improve or give even greater care when you are at the pinnacle of your career I cannot thank him enough, he is a credit to his profession, I am now able to enjoy all my interest again. With many thanks to him and his team.

Mr Hartwright's experience and reputation speak for themselves. As a result I made contact with him over my painful hip joint. He immediately rescued me from an NHS process that was otherwise going in no positive direction for me. He was quick to assess my situation and to propose a treatment plan but the implications of COVID upon NHS resources increased his NHS waiting list far beyond my ability to cope with my deteriorating condition. My total hip replacement was therefore as a private patient using the excellent facilities and personnel at Sarum Road Hospital, Winchester. Whatever time or other pressures Mr Hartwright may be facing they never prevented me from getting his full and empathetic attention. I particularly appreciated the way in which he quickly identified with my situation and aspirations for recovery and responded appropriately through scheduling my operation; guiding me through the process; and fielding all my questions in a thorough and straightforward way. That created a real trust and confidence in his abilities and the advice he has given me. He has an excellent way of being totally positive about my progress and the outcome, whilst ensuring I am realistic about how I can achieve that.
