This has been my only experience of major surgery. From my first appointment, Mr Ramsay gave very clear explanations of my condition and reasons for his recommended treatment. He listened to all of my questions and gave very straightforward responses. At no time did I feel I'd asked anything 'silly' or unnecessary, including post-op. I was particularly impressed at how often he came onto the ward afterwards to check on my progress: 3 times on the first day and once before I went home on the second. I felt involved in decisions at all points of care, as did my husband who attended appointments with me. My ward-mates not being treated by him commented on his level of care and friendliness. I'm grateful to Mr Ramsay for the confidence he inspired in me to trust his skills and judgement, for his being down-to-earth and approachable and for his sense of humour. He treated me as a person, most definitely not as a number on a list. I suspect he loves his job. PCH should hang on to him! Many, many thanks.
