I was extremely anxious when I had my first appointment with Mr Loganathon. I had previously seen his assistant as he had been called to an emergency at the time of my first appointment. I was told that I had some highly suspicious polyps in my colon and the team had decided to cut them out and resection my bowel. All my appointments had been throughout lock down which meant I had to go alone and i didn't fully understand the implications of "highly suspicious"as I felt as if something was being kept from me. When I saw Mr Loganathan on my next appointment he made things very clear so that I was under no illusions, I did have cancer, they could cut it out but it was a very serious operation and very high risk because of my other underlying health problems. With Mr Lognathan's support and advice I stopped smoking and drinking alcohol, lost weight and became fit enough for the go ahead. My treatment from all the staff at The Northen General was marvellous, before, during and after my op. I should have been in hospital a minimum of 5 days but because of my COPD was expected to be in longer and have several days on the CCU. In reality I was 24 hours on CCU and home on my 4th day excluding the day of my op. My recovery has been some might say quite miraculous. I trusted Mr Loganathan implicitly, and was in fact offered to have my op done earlier with another surgeon which I flatly refused as Mr Loganathan had my total confidence and i fully appreciated his frankness when answering my questions. My husband was very concerned for me obviously at the time so we were allowed to both go and see him on my last appointment so he could explain everything to my husband. Without his encouragement and frankness I don't believe I would ever have done what was necessary to prepare for my op and I have nothing but praise for the way I have been looked after and all my needs met. I hope to never have to undergo surgery for bowel cancer again but if I do I would only want Mr Loganathan and his team to look after me. I cannot speak highly enough of him and his team and the Northen General Hospital. I shall be forever grateful as will my husband and family. Many thanks Kind regards Mrs Dawn Daly
