I was accepted as an emergency on Mr. Desai's waiting list for shoulder surgery. Despite the serious situation in respect to Covid-19, the orthopaedic team which he leads, continued to deliver treatment. In just a few weeks I received a telephone call advising me of a surgery slot that had become available. I wasn't aware that surgery was being carried out on a Saturday and from being admitted at 7.30am and greeted by the nursing staff and equally looked after by all the team on the ward and in theatre. The operation and continued first class care by Mr. Desai and the whole team went very smoothly. Post-operative stitches were removed after 10 days and physiotherapy continued the care with appointments. A care plan was drawn up and eventually strengthening exercises were gradually introduced. I am continuing with the above and gradually seeing more and more improvements. Thank-you for your treatment - we really all should be grateful for our NHS.
