I was diagnosed with bowel cancer in September 2007 and Ms Patel removed a tumour from large bowel (sigmoid colectomy). The surgery was a success and I was kept informed all of the time as to my progress and future treatment. Unfortunately a secondary tumour developed on my right ling in 2011 but Ms Patel spotted it quickly and immediately referred me to Blackpool Victoria to receive the treatment I needed. Five years after my lung surgery, I been discharged from her care. Quite simply Ms Patel has saved my life and I can't thank her, her team, all at Furness General Hospital and my colerectal nurse, Suzanne Thompson, enough for their care and professionalism over the last nine years.
