Very disappointing, went to this doctor for treatment in regards to TMJ and was just offered surgery or injections both of which didn't sound very appealing. Was quite dismissive about many of my symptoms and a little patronising. Didn't seem very knowledgeable about TMJ overall, no mention of any additional tests or scans or alternate treatments. Reading another review below about the lady who had 3 operations and then ended up needing total joint replacements speaks volumes, please beware.

Response from jamal siddiqi

I'm sorry to hear your comments. All patients are offered a range of options that suit the problem including doing nothing if pertinent. If anything I am a conservative surgeon who will only offer surgery if other treatments have been tried and failed. If you look at my reviews they specifically point out that I do care, absolutely am not patronising or dismissive and that my communication skills are excellent. In 11 years of Consultant level work I have met all types of people and respond in a professional manner. I don't send all patients for scans, usually only those where there is something unusual [uncommon] or I am contemplating fairly significant [= 'open'] surgery. This is because they add nothing and do not change the management of the problem i.e they are unjustified. My work has been internationally presented twice now in the last 3 years, the results of which match or exceed agreed standards. The lady who needed joint replacement had crippling arthritis which was being temporised until definitive replacement was offered after being initially declined, something I had to persuade another unit to do. So long as you found satisfaction elsewhere then I am pleased.
