I recently had a Gastoscopy at Braintree Community Hospital. I requested sedation as I personally find a gastroscopy distressing (I realise we are all different) but the sedation didn’t seem to work and I remembered every single moment of it. However when I had one last year at Colchester general I didn’t remember a thing. I don’t see why there should be a difference between these two hospitals. I found the staff to be kind and very caring.

Thank you for your feedback. The answer to your question is within your comment. Braintree is a community hospital whereas Colchester is a general hospital. We do not give excessive sedation in the community setting due to possible adverse effects of sedation.
