I had a stroke in 2012, I was very lucky, on a Saturday morning, the responders, after my wife phoned for an ambulance, were at our house in three minutes, I didn't know anything they gave me oxygen, the ambulance was little late but I got to Colchester in the 3 hours, and had a wonderful specialist the he done what he had to and thrombolysed my blood, to clear the clot from my brain, I couldn't even speak for a couple of day and had to learn again, but my muscles seemed to work ok, really lucky. I had warfarin to thin the blood and sotalol to make my pulse slower, I had a stroke because I have irregular heartbeat, over the time I had a lot of irregular heartbeats, which made me feel rough. I was going to Portugal in our Motorhome, and in France I had blood in my pee, reduced the amount of warfarin, and because of this came home early, thought it was irresponsible, to go away for a longer time. I saw Dr Smita Lyer as soon as possible, she thought we ought to see where the blood is coming from, made an appointment with the Hospital, and thought I should go on Apixaban instead of Warfarin, I went to see my usual doctor and after a blood test went on to Apixaban, this was October 2017, I saw some blood just after, thought this probably when the Warfarin was still in my blood, have not seen blood anymore, but the main thing I feel so much better, I only have irregular heartbeat, no where near as I used to have, so I am so pleased I saw Dr Smita Lyer.
