I was taken into A&E at Wexham Park Hospital just after midnight on Monday 30th August with chest pains. As my condition was assessed I was gradually moved onward to the Cardiac Department. I was very shocked to be told that I would probably need an angiogram and subsequently quite possibly angioplasty. I was then really amazed when the doctor treating me said that he would try to get the angiogram done on Monday afternoon (which was a bank holiday). A little later Paul arrived and introduced himself, apologizing for his casual attire as he and his team had decided to come in to treat me. He explained the procedures and told me I was a very lucky woman to have called the ambulance quickly. He explained the risks very carefully and the alternatives and I signed the paperwork and was quickly wheeled into the theatre. I was treated with great care and consideration by everyone. At the end Paul told me that they had gone ahead with the angioplasty and inserted two stents. He also showed me the screen showing the blocked artery which made it quite clear why this procedure was so necessary. Everything had gone well and the following afternoon Paul came back to check on me before I went home, explaining that I would be given a follow up date in 8 weeks time. I am so thankful to be looked after so well. If you have the misfortune to need this care then you could not have a better doctor than Paul.
