The care I have received from Dr. Kar has been first class right from the start. The speed at which he has been able to progress my case (Pituitary Tumour) has been much better than I may have expected of the NHS. He puts you right at ease from the start with his confident approach and clearly he is an expert in his field. I saw him on a Friday with the results of my MRI scan diagnosing the pituitary tumour, he immediately emailed the surgeon advising of my condition and by the following Tuesday my tumour had been removed. I envisaged that by the time ‘paperwork’ had been done, it would be some weeks before an operation was scheduled, but for the Consultant and the Surgeon to exchange emails so quickly and make that decision is surely the way forward. The revelation in dealing with Dr. Kar is being able to drop him an email with any questions or concerns and getting an answer back very quickly. As a patient with a condition that is difficult to fully comprehend and a doctor that is so approachable that asking a quick question as it occurs becomes something realistic and easy. Getting appointments to see Dr. Kar is also fairly easy, he always seems to be able to find time to slot you in for a quick appointment, and the time of the appointment is always kept to, I don’t think we've waited more than 5 or 10 minutes beyond the set time to see the doctor. I wish that could be said in my own GP surgery! I think the really key thing is that Dr. Kar clearly expects to be able to give first class care and totally sees it as his job to do so. As a patient I probably went into this fearful that I wouldn't get that level of care, maybe with a lower expectation. But I have been so impressed with the care I have received, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dr. Kar to anyone needing Endocrine care. To say he is enthusiastic about his job is an understatement, he clearly loves his work. If you could bottle the essence of the way Dr. Kar runs his department and sell it to the whole of the NHS, you could make (and probably save) £millions.
