In 25 years of IBD Dr Arebi is the finest doctor I've had the pleasure of being treated by. She did more for me in here first year at St Marks than most docs have done in many years. She comes across as a genuinely caring human being, is VERY pro-active (something that severely lacking when you have an appointment with one of her juniors sadly), and on a couple of occasions has gone genuinely out of her way to help me personally, on a physical and mental level. I wish I could thank her more than I have done. I just wish it were possible to actually see her at every outpatient appointment (not realistic I know), as sadly outpatient appointments that are with one of her team instead are usually a waste of time - they just arrange a small test or minor treatment tweak so they can say they did something, knowing you'll see someone different next time so won't be their problem then. (I should point out, this is not unique to Dr Arebi's team, but an issue with every gastroenterologist's team - some sort of mortal fear of doing anything significant or pro-active out of fear of being seen to make a mistake by their boss, leaving the patient in endless limbo). If you are having major difficulties, or long standing disease and feeling like you getting nowhere, she would be the perfect gastroenterologist to find yourself in the care of.
