Recommended this doctor by the surgery specifically for my mental health. Unfortunately due to the way he conducted the phone appointments i didnt feel comfortable continuing, and staff said no one else was available.
I said i think i have XYZ due to symptoms ABC and having talked to others with this and specalising in this and they agree. This doctor said "i wish people would stop lying, XYZ doesn't exist" when it very much does. I was also told I was "far too young to be depressed" (early 20s) and a physical issue that persisted for 18 months (10 months at appointment) was brushed off as i was told "if you cant clearly tell me what you want me to do, im not going to help you"
However he was very persistent at informing me about the help i could have gotten for students from a local uni, despite me stating and clarifying several times I did not go to this uni and couldn't get their help.
I love Dr Tankels approach to life. He helps me to accept my condition yet at the same time encourages me to see the brighter road ahead and know that the bad days will not always rule. If you like to be pampered and treated like a baby then this is not the doctor for you!
Dr Tankel runs an excellent surgery, and clearly knows a lot about his work.
Unfortunately, I find him rather curt. In my experience he does seem to talk down to patients. "You're not dying, so come back another day," type experience.
When asking for a call-back, you can specifically ask for a doctor other than Dr Tankel. The receptionists say that this is often requested. I would suggest taking that option!
It's a real shame, as the rest of his team and practice are excellent.
It would be nice for this doctor to have a little more patience and perhaps be a little more sympathetic.
Very happy
