Dr Hywel Jones was the anaesthetist for my tonsillectomy. The information he gave pre op was excellent and delivered with patience and good humour. He fully took on board the issues I have with anaesthetic - I have Ehlers Danlos type 3, and ensured I was operated on at the beginning of the theatre list as well as prescribing additional medication to counteract the effects of NSAID medication. Consequently my whole experience of the procedure and the recovery period has been excellent and I have had little to no pain. This was my first experience of surgery and general anaesthetic without any problems and I am extremely grateful for the exemplary care he gave me. I cannot think of any way in which he could improve.

On Friday 30th September 2016 I had a Septoplasty procedure at Springfield Hospital in Chelmsford and Dr. Hywel Jones was my Anaesthetist. He came to see me prior to the operation and having explained fully his role in the procedure, he made me feel totally at ease and took away all the fears I had regarding my operation. He was the last person I saw before falling asleep and the first person I saw when I awoke in the Recovery Room. If I have to have any operations in the future, I would really want Dr. Hywel Jones to be my Anaesthetist again. I would thoroughly recommend him.

I had a knee revision and I could not have been in better care to the point where I have to have the other knee done again and I am going to request to have Mr Jones. He really listen to my needs and went out of his way to find pain relief as I am allergic to codeine and morphine. I was awake for my op and all the way through he was really kind to me, letting me know what was going on. He cared for me from start to finish including when I was discharged making sure I went home with the correct drugs for my pain relief. To sum it up this man was one in a million and I really hope he is there for my other knee revision

Dr Hywel Jones was the anaesthetist for my breast augmentation on 4th July. I first met him on the morning of my operation. I wasn't feeling 100% and I had a temperature. Dr Jones and the surgeon, Mr Simon Smith, advised that I shouldn't have the operation that day because of the risk of complications that an infection may cause to the implants. Although I had geared myself up for having the operation that day and was disappointed that it had to be cancelled I am so grateful that Dr Jones and Mr Smith made this considered decision, despite the theatre already being prepped and the staff ready to operate! It shows that they both put the health of the patient above anything else. Dr Jones and Mr Smith were extremely kind and rearranged their schedules so that the operation could be performed 4 days later. In a previous operation I had taken a long time to come round from the anaesthetic and so I was nervous of going under anaesthetic again. However, I was very pleasantly surprised by how quickly I felt back to my normal self following the operation and I did not suffer any negative side effects. Dr Jones has a very caring nature and completely put my mind at ease. He fully explained exactly what to expect and checked on me a few times before and after the operation to ensure that I was ok. I felt very safe under the care of Dr Jones and would want him to be the anaesthetist at any future operations I have!
