I first met Dr Jones when he was the anaesthetist for my daughters adenoidectomy and tonsillectomy in 2003. He was extremely kind to an obviously anxious and concerned mother whose 7yr old was about to undergo surgery for the first time in her life. When I had to pay an excess on my Bupa bill he wrote to me returning the amount and asked me to spend it on my daughter instead. I was touched not only by his consideration but also the fact that he had taken the time to send a handwritten note. Fast forward to 2009, when I was diagnosed with breast cancer and was relieved to discover that my consultant worked with Dr Jones. Five months later I was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst and although Dr Jones did not usually work with my gynaecologist I asked if he would mind being my anaesthetist again as he was the only one I felt confident would 'wake me up'! Six months later I called upon his services again when I needed a hysterectomy. I am not the easiest of patients, being of an extremely nervous disposition and having a general fear of 'not waking up', but each time Dr Jones put me at ease with his calm and reassuring manner. He explained everything to me clearly and visited me in the days after my operations. His care went beyond the actual operation, ensuring I was prescribed protein shakes when I lost my appetite so that my body had a chance to heal properly. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending him and though I hope not to need his services again, I know that if I should, I couldn't be in better hands.
